Aims:
The study aims to define the system processes, needed to design a ‘Hospice without walls’ to meet the requirements that service-users need for their palliative care in the future. The study is funded by the University of Liverpool; Marie Curie Hospice Liverpool is a partner of this work
How the study will work:
Designers Andrew Tibbles and Dr Farnaz Nickpour will be present in the hospice for approximately a year, where they will observe all aspects of the hospice. They will review physical space, observe and study practices and will conduct interviews with hospice staff (at all levels) and meet staff, patients and caregivers to learn about their experience. They will use this knowledge to identify ‘system processes’ to identify how human centred design can be used to purposely design care to meet the need of service users.
